A biocultural anthropologist by training, her work broadly focuses on inequality and human well-being using access to basic resources and healthcare as avenues of inquiry. Her work strives to elevate and center the lived experiences of people living with food insecurity and chronic health conditions. Dr. Owens welcomes opportunities to mentor and collaborate both within UNCW and across institutions.
